I remember a vague childhood memory of myself, age 3: here I am dressed in an old style war uniform of a nurse, red cross in place on my bonnet, blue cape, carrying my toy medical kit. I'm sitting on the front step of our front veranda - ready to take on the world, one bandaged teddy at a time.
